Call For Innovation!

Climate Innovation League (CIL) is a 3-month escalation program for climate-tech startup, initiated by Ecoxyztem, in collaboration with the European Union Delegation to Indonesia and supported by EIT Climate-KIC. This program is designed to support university and early-stage startups in developing climate-positive business solutions by providing intensive mentoring, strategic networking, and access to kick-start grants. With the theme “Escalating Ecopreneurs to be the Catalyst of Green Economy Transition in Indonesia”, all finalists will be challenged to develop their viable and scalable business to address climate challenges in Indonesia.

Background

Our world is experiencing a global climate crisis, and Indonesia is no exception. In order to tackle this issue, Indonesia has taken several strategic actions both from the government and the business sector. One of the focus areas is encouraging the growth of green industries and focusing on funding commitments in efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change. This is also in line with the more equitable access to digital technology in Indonesia, which is predicted to accelerate the growth of the digital economy, especially for startups in various sectors.

By seeing these challenges and opportunities, Ecoxyztem, European Union (EU) Delegation to Indonesia, and Values 20 (V20) collaborate to grow more innovations from young talents who have the ability, competence, and skillset of ecopreneurship to be able to realize their solutions that solve climate challenges through sustainable business through Climate Innovation League 2022.

This programme will provide hands-on experience to selected teams from 15 universities and 10 early-stage startups in Indonesia to gain access to an extensive pool of high-profile experts and support as well as get the opportunity to scale up the solutions and explore potential collaborations with the industry at Indonesia Circular Economy Forum (ICEF) and V20 Summit.

Challenge Areas

Sustainable Transport & Renewable Energy

Transportation and energy are two things that are always connected. The most human GHG-generating activity is from transporting and creating energy. Now we should think about how to enable responsible transport with high efficiency and low greenhouse gas emissions. as well as empowering renewable energy uses and the ecosystem that supports them. Examples:

  • EV retrofitting for vehicles

  • Low GHG shipping

  • Practical renewable energy

  • Smart energy management and storage

Fast, monotonous, and exploited resource uses and processes in order to have the same output in a process have been proven as an unsustainable way to live. Restoring resilience is also key to surviving climate change. How we live with low entropy is important for the next decade.

Rapid growth in climate change urgency to be solved has pushed us to build the infrastructure for climate change management and reporting, so we can support solutions, policies, and investment in climate change solutions easily and directly. Additionally, carbon taxing and trade as a global agreement to reduce carbon emissions is something new and needs to be considered together.
